Personal Comments: I was born in Southampton England ( someone had to be ). Emigrated with my parents to Brisbane , Queensland , Australia when I was 5 . Escaped from the Colonies in Feb 1992 (long story). I live in Lymington , Hampshire with my Wife and 3 kids, none of whom are allowed to touch my PC cos' I built them one each . I work for the Central Purchasing Dept. in my Local Government (boring) , but I'm trying to get transferred to The ITC Dept. I spend far too much time in front of this monitor playing games and not studying for my qualifications in IT. Baldric (Dave ) & I started the 1st Hussars because we didn't fit into the normal clan slot . Families and work, etc, doesn't give you time to commit as much as a League Clan so we started one that was flexable and would attract likeminded (see wacko) players . It seems we were not alone in our thinking going by the increasing membership . The main thing in 1st Hussars is to have fun with no pressure about skills , they will come with time . It's about playing as a team member and that's what BF1942 is all about , not who has the highest score . I am seeking help for my Toilet Duck addiction but with varying success . I like the way it keeps my hipflask shiney and clean to be honest. It's not all about the winning ....there's the humiliating your crushed opponent too.

General Questions:
Can you start by introducing yourself?
Paul, Age 37. Born in Southampton, England. Moved to Brisbane Australia when I was about 5. Moved back to England 11 years ago.

What's the story behind the alias(es)? - Why did you pick the Hussar one you did?
I picked Major Headache originally as a pseudonym because I liked to pull sneaky stuff on the enemy and cause them a major headache .
My Hussars name came about because I liked the idea of a totally over the top character from Blackadder. Woof! Woof!

When did you first start playing multi-player games and what were they?
My first Multiplayer game was Unreal Tournament closely followed by Return to CastleWolfenstein at my friends PC shop. We used to have a LAN Night every couple of weeks. When ADSL became available in my area my first port of call was the Medal of Honor: Allied Assault servers, which I was playing until the appearance of BF1942.

Do you have a family and if so what do they think of you playing online games?
I have a Partner/Wife (Dawn - Computer illiterate)
Son (Angus aka [1stHssr]Titch), 14 yrs,
Son (Matthew - wannabe [1stHussr]), too young at 10 yrs
Daughter (Courtney), 15 ½ yrs (in Australia )
Daughter (Catherine), 6 ½ years
The two boys play BF1942, [1stHssr]Titch online with the Hussars.
Dawn thinks I spend far too much time in front of my PC, but she’s glad that I have a hobby that keeps me at home unlike my Paintball days.

What other hobbies do you have outside gaming?
Building and upgrading PC’s , most of the things I do in my free time are PC related.

What do you like about where you live?
I live in Lymington in the New Forest in Hampshire England. It’s a small country town with sod all to do except the local Pubs, which I don’t make a habit of. It’s a fairly quiet place , little trouble and very close to work although house prices are ridiculous around here.

What is (are) your favourite colours? If you play IL-2 would you use them as your skin colour?
Favourite colour would have to be Black. My IL2 Skin varies but I really loved the skin that Bunn made for me in Australian Colours. Well that was until I heard the comments “hey, who’s flying the tractor ? “. Australian sports teams colours are Green & Gold …unfortunately so are John Deere Tractors …doh !!.

What do you do for a living?
I work in the Central Purchasing Dept. of The New Forest District Council …..boring.

Battlefield 1942 Questions:
How did you first start playing BF?
I had heard about the game several months before it was released and was really interested in the idea of being able to play a WWII game that I would be able to drive and fly all of the vehicles. The day it was released I picked up my copy and threw it into my CD drive.

What do you consider the best things about BF?
The chance to play as a part of a team that requires every class to effectively win a game.

Conversely, which things do you hate?
People who cheat ……nuff said.

What are your favourite maps?
Iwo Jima.

Least favourite maps?
Berlin.

What enhancements would you like to see?
Anti cheat software incorporated into the game.
An administration setting that allows you to view all of the player icons on the map (password protected of course)
A class of transport plane.
Cannons on Aircraft that actually used them in battle.
A simpler TK Forgive / Punish setup , possibly a Forgive / Punish GUI Button on screen when you are the victim.
A simpler Map Vote setup.
Opposition Repair Pad and Hangers unusable and possibly damage enemy vehicles.
A Flamethrower Tank and Soldier Class would be cool …doesn’t sound right lol
More Naval Maps to have Ship to Ship combat. Sink the Bismark mode. Maybe a protect the Convoy against Surface Raiders and Submarines.
More Air only maps like Coral Sea, but without the bugs and the Spawncampers !!
Something to stop players putting in one Symbol Playing Names so their Player Tag doesn’t show to other players.

The Hussars Questions:
How did you find the Hussars or how did they find you?
Uhh… read the clan history for that one ;)

How does playing with the Hussars compare to other games/matches?
I really enjoyed playing MOH:AA and still do on occasion for the deathmatch aspect although in Bf1942 I dislike one on one. In BF1942 I really love the ability to come to the aid of a friendly player when asked. Dropping a bombload from my plane on an opposition tank that has a team member trapped inside gives me a warm feeling all over.

What changes (if any) would you like the Hussars as a clan to consider?
Ah that would be telling lol. Nah , nothing comes to mind. I like things the way they are. We fear change. But , as in IL2 Sturmovik, we find that some of the Hussar members like to play a certain game, so we take it on board. I feel the Hussars are flexible enough to fulfill the needs of its members and cater to their gaming needs.

Computer Questions:
What other PC talents (if any) do you have?
I am doing a Correspondence IT Course as I want to change jobs. I know enough to built a PC from scratch and do major upgrades. I make a bit of pin money by fixing peoples PC’s or building them to spec. I have also done some PC case modifications for a bit of fun.

What sort of system do you have at the moment?
As I have 8 PC’s at the moment and one on the go, I will just describe my main games rig.

What would your dream system be?
Uhh they haven’t built a PC like that yet ….one that never ever crashes and will run every bit of software, hardware and peripheral with no problems or conflicts .

Any PC games you are really looking forwards to?
Blackhawk Down, Vietcong, Medal of Honor II or whatever it will be called. Hidden & Dangerous II, Halo, Return to Castle Wolfenstein : Enemy Territory.
Basically any semi-realistic game that I get to shoot and blow up people Muhahahahahaha ?
