Summary:
Our first large battle was fought at Tobruk as the Allied forces. Our force consisted primarily of 1st Hussars Mechanized Regt., of which Able, Baker, and Charlie Companies all participated in the defensive action. We were supplemented by two members of Dunom Mortis ([DM]Deadmeat and [DM]KnifeU). Axis forces consisted of elements of ::3Para::, JTR, and Hg regiments. In the initial attacks the Axis forces blitzed across the desert at unprecedented speed and ferocity, forcing us back towards the town of Tobruk. Armour assaults on our dug-in positions were fierce and well lead, and the appearance of the new and improved Tiger I tank proved more than a match for our beleaguered mechanized troops, who were spread thin defending a large territory. During the second hour of the battle our forces managed to adjust well to the enemies blitzkrieg style tactics and by the time the last shot was fired the 1st Hussars had proven we were able to rebound and carry the fight to the enemy. Enemy force size to friendly ratio averaged 3:2, and enemy armour forces held similar ratio. Outnumbered and outgunned, the 1st Hussars and their attached Dunom Mortis troops were not outfought, nor were we outclassed. Battle honours all around as each member of The Regiment proved both skillful and performed heroic team-saving deeds.

In His Majesty's Service, [1st Hussar] Baldric Co-Commander of the Regiment
