Glossary

FTP – File Transfer Protocol – used instead of HTTP it allows files to be transferred over an Internet connection. It is used to upload pages from a local computer to a web host.

JPEG – Picture format. Along with GIF and PNG are the only formats used by web pages.

HTML – Hyper Text Markup Language – The basic language for all web pages.

PHP – Another language, used mainly for managing databases.
